I intend to add some technical details about the equipment and methods used to take them real soon now!. There will also some details of the tools and techniques used to create this web site, and anything else that I've thought to be interesting or useful. If you like the site and the contents, or have any comments at all, please contact me using the Contact page, and let me know how I can improve it.

This year, Maggie has become involved with the North Devon Plant Heritage group (formerly the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Garden, the NCCPG). The group visits gardens that are not normally open to the public, and I get to go along with my camera.
I have therefore created a new group of galleries to show the photos from these events, which can be accessed from the Galleries page in the usual way. The first two that I have put up are of a visit to the Tregothnan Estate in Cornwall, and of the Plant Heritage stand at the Coombe Trenchard Garden Festival 2011, together with some pictures of the Coombe Trenchard estate. More will follow!
I have uploaded a new gallery of photo taken at Greencombe, a gorgeous garden near Porlock in north Somerset.
10th May 2011
I have uploaded a new gallery of the spectacular display of magnolias at Marwood earlier this year. 2011 was the best year for magnolias in the garden that I have seen, and if pink is your thing, do have a look!
I have also bought a new camera and lenses. Preliminary details are on the equipment page.
27th February 2011
Rosemoor RHS garden put on another Winter Sculpture Exhibition this year, similar to last year. I have uploaded a new gallery of photos of some of the pieces.
I have also slightly changed the CSS for the image display. I hope this will prevent browsers from trying to upscale the images for high resolution displays - these low res .jpg images to not upscale well. It works well in Google's Chrome browser, and OK in IE8, and should not affect anything in earlier versions. If anyone has problems, especially in other browsers, let me know and I'll try to do something about it.

Sadly, I have decided to remove the Guestbook from this site. For more than a year now, the only entries have been from the spammers, and I have got bored with editing out their rubbish every week. You can still contact me using the Contact page if you wish.

I've now added an Equipment section to the site, and re-organised the main navigation bar. I intend to add descriptions and details of the equipment that I use for my photography in this section, but there is nothing there yet!
Maggie and I have taken on an a new allotment, which has been taking up much of our spare time, and so there have been no updates to the site for a few weeks. The initial hard work on the allotment is coming to an end at last, though, so look out for some new content soon.
4th June 2009
As promised, I've added a gallery of spring flowers shots from our garden, taken in February this year.
The site is now much faster and more responsive. Nothing to do with my code or design, this has come about because I contacted the Technical Support group of FVS, the company that hosts this site, to ask if they intended to update their server software. I was surprised and pleased by their response, which was to move the site to a new, much faster server, which is running the up-to-date versions of Apache and MySQL. Excellent service - well done!
This server upgrade has improved, but not entirely eliminated, the IE8 problems mentioned below. I'd really appreciate some feedback on this - is it a real problem for IE8 users, or am I over-reacting?
